BREAKING: Acelynn Hacker has made history! The senior guard from Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg (KMS) just shattered the school scoring record, becoming the all-time leading scorer for both boys and girls with an astonishing 1,631 career points. This remarkable feat occurred during KMS’s emphatic 77-31 victory against Lac qui Parle Valley on November 14, 2023.
Hacker needed just 19 points to overtake the previous record held by 2007 graduate Esther Peterson, who scored 1,613 points. She hit that milestone early in the game, breaking the record with an and-one free throw at the 6:09 mark of the first half. The crowd erupted as Hacker made her way into the paint, getting fouled on a layup attempt, which secured her place in the record book.
Ending the night with a game-high 36 points and 11 steals, Hacker’s performance was pivotal in leading the Fighting Saints to a commanding halftime advantage of 46-16. Fellow junior guard Leah Wagner also excelled, contributing 19 points, 10 steals, and 8 rebounds. Together, they dominated the court, showcasing their skills in just 18 minutes of play.
“It was a good start,” said KMS head coach Justin Johnson. “Acelynn really came out strong.”
Hacker, who is a commit to the NCAA Division III University of Minnesota-Morris, averaged 19.1 points and 4.2 steals per game last season. Her leadership and skill will be crucial as the Fighting Saints prepare to host Dawson-Boyd for a Camden Conference matchup at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
In other notable games on this thrilling night of high school basketball, MACCRAY triumphed over Dawson-Boyd 69-40, fueled by senior guard Brielle Janssen who racked up 33 points, 9 assists, and 10 steals. Meanwhile, Central Minnesota Christian School (CMCS) dominated Ortonville with a stunning score of 88-7, leading 66-1 at halftime. Senior Emmi Braem led CMCS with 20 points and 5 steals, showcasing the team’s overwhelming talent.
