Denver’s Christkindl Market Opens 25th Year at Tivoli Quad

UPDATE: Denver’s iconic Christkindl Market has officially kicked off its 25th year at the newly relocated Tivoli Quad on the Auraria campus, drawing massive crowds and over 40 vendors. This festive event, which runs through December 23, 2025, is expected to attract even more than last year’s record of 350,000 visitors.

The market’s move from Civic Center Park to its new location has been met with enthusiasm. “Vendors are loving it. We’re seeing that people are really excited to be in this new space,” said Samantha Seems, executive director of the German American Chamber of Commerce – Colorado chapter. The larger venue allows vendors to spread out and accommodate the growing crowds eager for holiday cheer.

Local vendor Leon Speth shared the market’s culinary highlights, stating, “Everybody’s always hungry for a pretzel.” Fellow vendor Josh Bryant is serving traditional Schmalzkuchen, a classic German donut that has become a favorite among festival-goers. “It’s a very popular classic Christmas dish in Germany at the Christmas markets,” Bryant explained.

The market is not just a culinary destination; it also features unique goods from various vendors. Blair Hamill offers stunning posters of national parks and ski resorts, capturing emotional memories for visitors. “I’m selling posters of various places that people love to visit,” Hamill noted.

The sense of community among vendors adds to the market’s charm. “We’re like a family around here,” Bryant said, emphasizing long-standing relationships built over years of participation. Many vendors have been part of the market for over a decade, fostering a tight-knit atmosphere that resonates with returning and new visitors alike.

As the holiday season unfolds, the Christkindl Market is not just a shopping venue; it’s a festive gathering place that connects people from around the world. “You meet people from around the world, a lot of European visitors,” Speth remarked, highlighting the market’s international appeal.

This year’s festivities promise even more excitement as the market continues to grow. With its new location and expanded offerings, the Christkindl Market is poised to become a holiday staple in Denver, drawing families and friends together to celebrate the season.
