Former Assistant District Attorney and current Family Court Attorney Stephanie Singe-Cully announced her candidacy for Oneida County Family Court Judge during an event at 72 Tavern & Grill in Utica on October 25, 2023. In her speech, she expressed her commitment to helping children and families navigate complex legal challenges, stating, “Today, I stand before you humbled, energized and proud to officially declare my candidacy for Oneida County Family Court Judge.”
Singe-Cully emphasized her experience in Family Court, where she currently assists the sitting judge, Hon. Paul M. Deep. “As the Court Attorney to the sitting Family Court Judge, I work every day on matters that shape the safety, stability, and future of children and families in our community,” she explained. The upcoming judicial seat will be available on the ballot during the general election scheduled for November 3, 2026, as the current judge, Hon. Randall B. Caldwell, will not seek re-election.
Since taking on the role of Court Attorney in 2023, Singe-Cully has provided extensive legal support in all cases within Judge Deep’s courtroom. Prior to this appointment, she served for over ten years as an Oneida County Assistant District Attorney, eventually becoming the Bureau Chief of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center. Throughout her prosecutorial career, she handled thousands of cases, including serious felony-level offenses involving special victims, such as child exploitation and sexual assault. Her collaboration with law enforcement has been pivotal in prosecuting child sexual offenders.
At the launch event, former Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara praised Singe-Cully’s qualifications. “Stephanie Singe-Cully is immensely qualified to serve as our next Family Court Judge. I’ve seen her work firsthand to secure justice for families in the courtroom as an Assistant District Attorney,” he stated. “I’ve followed her work now as a Court Attorney, and Stephanie has the experience we need to serve families across Oneida County during their most challenging times.”
Born and raised in New Hartford, Singe-Cully, 36, is a lifelong resident of Oneida County. She holds degrees from LeMoyne College and Florida Coastal School of Law. Singe-Cully resides in New Hartford with her husband Matt and their nine-month-old son, Rocco. “As my husband, Matt, and I raise our growing family here, I am as committed as ever to do everything I can to make Oneida County as safe and promising a place as it has been for me,” she remarked. “With your support, we will bring fairness, accountability, and compassion to Family Court. Together, we can build a system that truly serves every child and every family.”
In addition to her legal work, Singe-Cully is dedicated to community service. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Oneida County Bar Association and is involved with the Community Readers program in the Utica School District. As a registered Republican, she is seeking the party nomination for Family Court Judge.
With the election approaching, Singe-Cully’s campaign is set to focus on issues of fairness and accountability in the Family Court system, aiming to ensure a supportive environment for families in need.
