Serious allegations have emerged against Gerald Dixon, a City Councilman in Whitehall, Ohio, as newly uncovered evidence and 911 call records reveal troubling incidents dating back several years. Dixon, who has been charged with felony gross sexual imposition and felony prostitution of a minor, maintains his innocence amid growing scrutiny from residents and law enforcement.
The Whitehall Police Department has been examining a series of 911 calls that began in 2016. These calls reported children selling water bottles outside Dixon’s home, raising safety concerns due to the proximity to a busy intersection. Over the years, similar reports continued to surface, with callers expressing worry for the children’s well-being. Current Whitehall Police Chief Mike Crispen noted that these incidents are now considered part of the ongoing investigation into Dixon.
According to Crispen, the initial reports seemed innocuous but escalated as multiple calls were received. Some children reportedly claimed they were working for Dixon, raising further alarm among authorities. “It seemed benign at first,” Crispen stated during a recent press conference. “But then it became multiple calls, and some of the kids said they were working for him. We were told he got mad when they said they wouldn’t work for him anymore.”
In addition to the allegations related to the children selling water, authorities are investigating claims that Dixon transported a 14-year-old out of state and engaged in sexual activity with the minor. Police records reveal that Dixon’s home is also located near a bus stop, adding another layer of concern for community members.
The situation has prompted a task force of five police investigators to collaborate with external agencies, reviewing thousands of documents and digital evidence seized during a search of Dixon’s residence. Following his arrest, he was held for less than 24 hours before being released on his own recognizance.
Despite the serious nature of the charges, Dixon continues to serve on the city council, which has raised concerns among local residents and city officials. Neighbors have expressed mixed feelings about the allegations. JoAnn Sanders, who has lived nearby for decades, commented, “I’ve never seen anything bad. I’ve talked to him a bunch of times. He stands up for Ward 1. The truth comes out in the end. If he did it, he’s going to pay for it.”
As the investigation unfolds, eight individuals have come forward claiming to have been victimized by Dixon. No new alleged victims have contacted the police since his arrest, according to the Whitehall Police Department. City leaders have indicated that at least two council members plan to propose a motion to remove Dixon from his position, although no formal action has been taken yet.
Dixon is scheduled to return to court on December 23, 2023, as the community watches closely for developments in this troubling case. The allegations surrounding him have sparked significant public interest, raising questions about accountability and safety in local governance.
