Olean General and BRMC Team Up for Community Blood Drives

Olean General Hospital and Bradford Regional Medical Center are partnering with ConnectLife to host community blood drives this month. The initiative aims to encourage local residents to donate blood, emphasizing the critical need for donations in the region.

Olean General Hospital will hold its blood drive today from 08:00 to 13:00. This event will take place on the ConnectLife Bus located at the Mildred Milliman Outpatient Surgery Center, directly across from the hospital. Individuals interested in participating can schedule an appointment by visiting connectlifegiveblood.org and using sponsor code 000485, or by calling (716) 529-4270.

The blood drive at Bradford Regional Medical Center is set for Thursday, from 10:00 to 15:00, in the hospital’s main lobby. To make an appointment, potential donors can visit the same website and use sponsor code 000468, or contact Kim Murphey at (814) 362-8298.

Donating blood can have a profound impact. A single pint of blood can save up to three lives within the local community. To encourage participation, all donors throughout December will receive a pair of tickets to an upcoming Buffalo Sabres home game.

In addition, ConnectLife has introduced a new initiative called the Suite Seats for Life Savers promotion. Running through December 31, 2023, this program allows donors who meet specific criteria to enter a drawing for a suite at Highmark Stadium for the Buffalo Bills’ final regular-season game. To qualify, donors must make either two whole blood donations and one double red cell donation, or four platelet donations during the promotion period.

As community health organizations work to meet the demand for blood, these drives serve as a vital reminder of the importance of regular donations. Residents are encouraged to participate and contribute to the well-being of their community.
