Barnegat High School emerged victorious at the 2025 Garden State Classic, held on their home turf, clinching the team title with impressive individual performances. The Bengals secured two individual championships, showcasing their wrestling prowess in front of a supportive crowd.
In the 175-pound final, Gerald Miller defeated Jose Vidal of Lakewood with a decisive 10-6 decision. Miller’s strategic approach throughout the match enabled him to control the pace and earn the coveted title. Meanwhile, in the 215-pound category, Charles Black triumphed in a thrilling contest against Jay-Denn Vazquez-Francillion from Asbury Park. Black emerged victorious with a nail-biting 15-13 decision, clinching the match by scoring crucial points in the final minute.
Cinnaminson also demonstrated their strength at the tournament, claiming four individual titles. Ryan Marino (138 pounds), Dominic Marino (144 pounds), Levi Jander (157 pounds), and Jake Barbich all showcased exceptional skills and determination to add to the Pirates’ impressive tally.
No. 16 ranked Immaculata made a significant impact as well, winning three titles at the event. Luke Loffredo dominated the 113-pound final, achieving a technical fall over Aniello Napolitano of Haddon Heights with a score of 16-0. In the 120-pound final, Anthony Lopez secured his title by defeating Cole Denning from Haddon Heights with an 18-3 technical fall. Additionally, Trevin Highton clinched the 165-pound title with a third-period pin against Davi Guimaraes from Cinnaminson.
Other notable champions included Daylen Bunting from Asbury Park (106 pounds), Hector Villarubia-Torres from Cedar Creek (126 pounds), Jack Puleio from Monmouth (132 pounds), Joseph Hartz from Bordentown (150 pounds), and Slayton D’Amico from Cedar Creek (285 pounds), each securing their respective titles in a competitive field.
