Salvatore Maimone, 88, Passes Away; Funeral Services Announced

UPDATE: Salvatore Maimone, an esteemed member of the Schenectady community, has passed away at the age of 88. He died peacefully on December 23, 2025, at Capstone Nursing Home, leaving behind a legacy of family and friendship.

Born in Meri, Messina, Sicily on March 26, 1937, to the late Giuseppe and Concetta Campo Maimone, Salvatore immigrated to the United States in 1971. He settled in Schenectady with his wife, Antonina, whom he married in 1957. Sal was a proud mason with Local 190 in Albany and an active member of the Sons of Italy on Hamburg St.

Salvatore’s passing marks a significant loss for his family and friends. He is survived by his children, Giuseppe and Orazio Maimone, along with his grandchildren, including Nicolina, Angelo, Kamden, Ava, Sal, Anthony, and Roberto. He also leaves behind his sister Anna from Italy, as well as great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.

A calling hour is scheduled for Monday, December 29th, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, located at 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. This will be followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. Salvatore will be interred at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna, concluding a life dedicated to family and community.
