Creative Cypher, a leading content collective based in Chicago, has made a significant leadership change with the appointment of Cindy Beasley as its first female president. This announcement follows the company’s recent accolades, including two Emmy nominations and three Telly Awards, indicating a pivotal shift in the organization’s direction and commitment to fostering underrepresented voices in the entertainment industry.
Troy Pryor, the founder and visionary behind Creative Cypher, expressed his confidence in Beasley’s leadership abilities. “Cindy will be an exceptional leader, and I’m beyond grateful for this entire team,” said Pryor. “We’ve been building together for a while now, and it’s important that every contributor gets the recognition they deserve.”
Beasley, a lifelong resident of Chicago, brings over a decade of experience in television and media production to her new role. She has previously produced shows featuring notable talents from the city, including former FOX Chicago News anchor Robin Robinson and Emmy Award-winning journalist Samantha Chatman. “I’ve been blessed to be a collaborative partner in something that the city and culture needs,” Beasley stated. “Creative Cypher is building the next generation of creatives and entertainment thought leaders, and I look forward to leading the way.”
Expansion of Leadership Team
In conjunction with Beasley’s appointment, Creative Cypher has announced the formation of a new leadership team. Kyle Marshall has been named Chief Operations Officer, while Starr Gadson takes on the role of Chief Marketing Officer. Both Marshall and Gadson have been long-time contributors to Creative Cypher, further emphasizing the continuity and expertise within the organization.
Under Beasley’s leadership, the company plans to expand its flagship initiative, XL Fest, through a collaboration with TateMen Entertainment. The festival has gained considerable media attention and has hosted prominent figures such as Robert Townsend, Larenz Tate, Vivica Fox, and Malcolm D. Lee. This partnership is expected to strengthen Creative Cypher’s presence in Chicago and beyond.
Future Goals and Vision
Pryor, who remains the Chairman of Creative Cypher, has expressed his commitment to fostering growth within the organization. He is also expanding his executive producer catalog and has returned to on-camera work, co-hosting a radio show titled “Connect the Starrs” on Rejoice 102.3 FM alongside Gadson.
“The goal has always been elevation and avoiding founder syndrome,” Pryor stated. “I launched Creative Cypher because I saw a lack of growth from other organizations, making it essential that we practice what we preach. This is a natural progression in the ecosystem.”
As Creative Cypher enters this new chapter, the combination of Beasley’s leadership and the newly formed executive team positions the organization to continue its mission of promoting diverse voices in the entertainment landscape while expanding its reach globally.
