UPDATE: Tuesday Musical has just announced that online applications for its 2026 scholarship competition are now open! Interested candidates must apply by February 1, 2026, to be considered for this prestigious opportunity.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the scholarship program, which offers a total of $41,550 in funds, with individual scholarships ranging from $750 to $2,000. This is the largest competition yet, aimed at supporting aspiring music educators and performers from Ohio.
Eligible applicants include music performance and music education majors who are either residents of Ohio or studying with a music teacher at an Ohio institution. Categories for the scholarships include music education, brass, classical guitar, organ, piano, percussion, strings, voice, and woodwinds.
New developments for this year include an expansion of the required repertoire in the percussion category, now allowing for a broader range of instruments beyond marimba and steel pan. Additionally, the second-place organ scholarship, introduced last year, has been increased to $1,500.
The competition will feature an adjudicated event on March 21, 2026, at the University of Akron, where participants will receive feedback from judges. Organists will showcase their skills at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Akron. Winners of the first and second place will be invited to compete in a final round and winners concert on May 3, 2026, which will award two more scholarships and a coveted people’s choice award.
