Indiana House Invites Students to Join 2026 Legislative Page Program

URGENT UPDATE: The Indiana House of Representatives is actively recruiting young Hoosiers to participate as pages during the 2026 legislative session. Students aged 13 to 18 can now apply to experience the inner workings of state government firsthand.

This initiative, confirmed by Indiana House Republicans, offers an exciting opportunity for students to engage directly with lawmakers and witness the legislative process in action. State Representatives Jack Jordan and Jake Teshka emphasize the importance of civic engagement, with Jordan stating,

“Interacting with other pages, House staff, and lawmakers while seeing the legislative process firsthand is a rewarding experience.”

The program kicks off in January 2026, running every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday until the conclusion of the legislative session. Sessions will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., ensuring students can balance this valuable experience with their school commitments. Notably, participants will receive a one-day excused absence under Indiana law to facilitate their involvement.

Parents eager to inspire civic responsibility in their children should act quickly. Interested students can contact the page program director directly or email [email protected]. For group visits, which are scheduled for Wednesdays, the same contact should be utilized. Detailed information and application instructions are available at IndianaHouseRepublicans.com/PageProgram.

Teshka expressed his enthusiasm for welcoming students, stating,

“I always look forward to welcoming students from our area of the state and showing them what the legislative process looks like up close.”

However, participants should be prepared to manage their own logistics, including lunch and transportation to the Statehouse in Indianapolis.

This unique program not only provides an immersive educational experience but also highlights the importance of youth engagement in government. Students are encouraged to seize this opportunity to learn about their state’s legislative framework while fostering connections with community leaders.

As the application period opens, parents and students are urged to share this exciting opportunity widely. The chance to be part of Indiana’s legislative process is a pivotal experience that can ignite a lifelong passion for civic involvement. Don’t miss out on this chance to become a part of Indiana’s political landscape!
