The Ataris Set to Release First New Album in 19 Years

The Ataris, a well-known pop-punk band, is gearing up to release its first new album in 19 years. According to bassist Mike Davenport, the new record is complete and is set to debut in March or April 2026. This highly anticipated album will feature “Car Song,” the band’s latest single, which was released in May.

Davenport expressed his excitement about the upcoming release during an interview with Punk Rock Philosophy. He stated, “I am really excited about it! We are anxious to get the full record out and for you all to hear it.” He emphasized the dedication of lead singer and guitarist Kristopher “Kris” Roe, noting that he has poured his heart into the album. “It has been emotional,” Davenport added, highlighting that Roe can now focus on songwriting and studio work without the distractions he faced in the past.

The Ataris, formed in 1996, are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year. Davenport noted that the band has reunited after two lengthy hiatuses, revitalized with new energy following the Covid pandemic. “Covid was a reset,” he said. “The band came back from that on a mission which we haven’t been on since we were kids. Our focus and our mission is to make new music and be the best band we can be every time we go on stage.”

The Ataris gained fame during the MySpace and Warped Tour era, releasing five albums between 1997 and 2007, which included hits like “In This Diary,” “San Dimas High School Football Rules,” and “So Long, Astoria.” They also released a cover of Don Henley’s “The Boys of Summer.” Although their music output has slowed in recent years, the band has continued to engage with fans through demos, live recordings, and some new material.

Looking ahead, The Ataris have more than a dozen tour dates scheduled for 2026, despite having to cancel two concerts in December in Buffalo and Syracuse due to an injury Roe sustained. Fans can purchase tickets through platforms like StubHub and SeatGeek.

As anticipation builds for the new album, The Ataris are clearly on a mission to reconnect with their audience and make their mark once again in the music landscape.
