The beloved series Ted Lasso is set to return for a fourth season, despite initial claims that the story had concluded. The Apple TV+ show, which premiered in 2020, follows an American football coach who finds himself in charge of a struggling British soccer team. Creator and lead actor Jason Sudeikis previously indicated that the narrative was complete after three seasons, stating on the “Fly on the Wall” podcast, “This story is done.”
In a surprising turn of events, Sudeikis confirmed in March 2025 on the “New Heights” podcast that writing for the new season was underway. Following this revelation, Apple TV+ announced that the cast had reunited in Kansas City to begin filming, generating excitement among fans. A first-look image released recently showcased some of the series’ familiar faces, though not all cast members were included.
Returning Cast Members and New Additions
Several key actors from the original series have confirmed their return for season 4. Jason Sudeikis will reprise his role as the titular coach, while Hannah Waddingham, who portrays Rebecca, is also back for the new season. Juno Temple, known for her role as Keeley, was spotted in the first-look photo, confirming her return alongside Jeremy Swift, who plays Leslie.
The fourth season will also see the return of Brett Goldstein, whose character Roy continues to be a fan favorite. Brendan Hunt is set to return as Coach Willis, maintaining continuity from the first three seasons.
New faces are also joining the ensemble. Tanya Reynolds and Jude Mack are among the newcomers, although details about their characters have yet to be disclosed. Additionally, Faye Marsay and Aisling Sharkey are also confirmed to join the cast in significant roles.
Another notable change involves Grant Feely, who will take on the role of Ted’s son, Henry, succeeding Gus Turner.
Uncertainties Surrounding Some Characters
While many original stars will return, some cast members’ futures remain uncertain. Phil Dunster, who plays Jamie, will not be a regular in season 4 due to a scheduling conflict with a new HBO project created by Bill Lawrence, an executive producer on Ted Lasso.
Similarly, Nick Mohammed, who portrayed Nate in the earlier seasons, has not been confirmed for the upcoming season, although he previously hinted at his potential involvement. Questions also linger about the return of Toheeb Jimoh as Sam and James Lance as Trent, as neither were mentioned in the latest announcements.
