Community Involvement and Contributions

Attendees are encouraged to bring canned goods on January 19 to support the LAMP Homeless Shelter. This initiative reflects the spirit of giving that is central to the celebration of Dr. King’s legacy. The event is free to the public, ensuring that everyone can participate in honoring this significant occasion.

In addition to the performances, the ceremony will recognize winners of the MLK Poetry & Essay Contest, further engaging the youth in meaningful reflections on Dr. King’s impact. The combination of arts and community service aims to foster a spirit of unity and collaboration among participants.

These events not only pay tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. but also encourage local involvement, making it a meaningful experience for all. Members of the Valdosta community are invited to join in the celebration, reflecting on the values of equality and service that Dr. King championed throughout his life.
