Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania have officially kicked off their 2026 cookie season, introducing a new flavor alongside a rich historical legacy. This year, the organization unveils Exploremores, a rocky road ice cream-inspired sandwich cookie that joins their classic lineup. The new offering features chocolate cookies filled with marshmallow and toasted almond-flavored crème, embodying the spirit of exploration central to the Girl Scout mission.
The annual cookie sales serve as the organization’s largest fundraiser, directly supporting troop activities, travel, service projects, and summer camp experiences. Proceeds from these sales remain local, benefiting programs throughout the region. “This is a season many people look forward to for good reason,” stated Kim E. Fraites-Dow, chief executive officer of Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania. She emphasized that the cookie program not only satisfies a sweet tooth but also plays a crucial role in fostering leadership and entrepreneurial skills among girls.
Honoring History and Tradition
The 2026 cookie season also holds special significance as the organization commemorates America’s 250th anniversary. This milestone is intertwined with the origins of the Girl Scout Cookie, which began in 1933 when local Girl Scouts sold homemade cookies at the Philadelphia Gas and Electric Company. The concept expanded nationally in 1936, leading to the widespread program recognized today.
Alongside the new Exploremores, fans of the cookies can still enjoy popular varieties such as Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties, Adventurefuls, Lemonades, Trefoils, and the gluten-free Caramel Chocolate Chip cookie. Most cookies are priced at $6 per package, while the gluten-free option is available for $7. Sales will continue through March 8, 2026.
How to Purchase and Get Involved
Consumers can purchase cookies directly from local Girl Scouts, find nearby booths, or place orders for shipment using the Girl Scout Cookie Finder. For updates throughout the season, shoppers can also text COOKIES to 59618. Additional information on purchasing cookies or supporting local troops can be found at gsep.org/cookies.
Girls in grades kindergarten through 12 who wish to participate can learn how to join or volunteer at gsep.org/join. As the season progresses, the familiar boxes carry more than just cookies; each sale fuels opportunities for the next generation of leaders while celebrating a nearly century-old tradition that began in Philadelphia.
