A routine traffic stop on Route 9 in New Castle County, Delaware, led to the arrest of four individuals after police discovered a handgun and over 489 grams of marijuana in their vehicle. The incident occurred late on the evening of January 27, 2026, when detectives from the Active Crime Trends Team initiated the stop around 21:30 near the intersection of Memorial Drive and Route 13.
The driver, identified as Michael Rivera, 21, from Wilmington, was found to be operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license. During the stop, police observed drug paraphernalia inside the blue Tesla Model Y, which provided them with probable cause to conduct a search.
Upon searching the vehicle, detectives reported uncovering a 9mm handgun and a significant quantity of marijuana, along with further drug paraphernalia. Investigators later learned that Tylere Brown-Hall, 19, also from New Castle, is prohibited from possessing a firearm due to prior legal issues.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
All four individuals were taken into custody and transported to the New Castle County Police Headquarters for processing. Anyea Hynson, 23, also of Wilmington, faces several felony charges, including possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession with intent to deliver, and conspiracy. She was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and is currently held at the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution after failing to post bail set at $74,500.
Michael Rivera has been charged with multiple felonies, including possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. He was also arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and is being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post bail of $84,602.
Brown-Hall was charged with possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited and remains in custody at the Howard R. Young facility after failing to post $3,000 bail. Kevin Rivera, 18, also from Wilmington, faces charges for carrying a concealed deadly weapon. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 1 and is being held at the same facility after failing to post bail of $10,000.
The charges against all individuals are currently allegations, and each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
