Yutan’s Jordyn Campbell Makes History with 200th Win

BREAKING: Yutan’s senior wrestler Jordyn Campbell has made history as the first girl in Nebraska to achieve 200 career wins, a milestone reached at the Cedar Bluffs Invite in late January. This unprecedented achievement comes just months after the Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) sanctioned girls wrestling in May 2021.

Campbell, a two-time NSAA state champion, also shattered another record during the same tournament by securing her 177th career pin, breaking the state’s all-time career-pins record. “When they announced over the speakers that it was two state records, I think that’s when it hit me, like, ‘Wow,’ I really did that,” Campbell expressed, highlighting the emotional weight of her success.

Campbell’s coach, Dan Krajicek, emphasized the significance of these records, stating, “It’s just a culmination of moment after moment. She has the right mentality for achieving a lot. It just kind of puts a cherry on the top of everything she’s been working for.”

Reflecting on her journey, Campbell recalled her early days. “When I was eight years old and getting my butt kicked every match, I never thought that I would be where I’m at today,” she said. Her wrestling style prioritizes fundamentals over flash, with Campbell admitting, “It’s just cut and dry, get things done. Super boring, but very effective.”

Krajicek described her approach as “amazingly boring,” noting her proficiency in executing basic moves with exceptional skill. As the season progresses, Campbell is on track to potentially three-peat as state champion, with the girls state tournament set to begin on February 17, 2026, at the CHI Health Center in Omaha.

The excitement around Campbell’s achievements has captivated the wrestling community, making her a standout athlete to watch. “Feeling the adrenaline and an ‘I did it’ moment. I’m just super grateful for everyone that was there, and so it was really emotional for me,” she said.

As the wrestling season heats up, all eyes will be on Campbell as she aims to secure her legacy in Nebraska sports history.
