Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith have decided to forgo their scheduled custody trial regarding their daughter, Juno, age 5. Initially set to begin on October 15, 2023, the proceedings were removed from the court calendar following a motion filed by Turner-Smith’s attorney on October 14, 2023.
According to court documents obtained by People, the couple is now working towards a custody arrangement outside of the courtroom. They “are in the process of negotiating a custody judgment.” Should they encounter any disagreements during this negotiation, they will return to a privately compensated temporary judge for assistance in resolving any impasses.
The couple’s marriage began in 2019, and Turner-Smith filed for divorce in October 2023. Since that time, they have faced challenges in reaching a mutually agreeable custody arrangement for their daughter.
In a recent public appearance, Joshua Jackson attended a benefit concert, where he had a reunion with former co-stars from the series Dawson’s Creek. This event highlights the ongoing adjustments both parents are making during this transition.
As both parties prioritize their daughter’s well-being, their decision to negotiate outside of court may indicate a willingness to maintain a cooperative relationship for the sake of Juno. The outcome of their negotiations will ultimately shape the future of their family dynamic, reflecting a broader trend among high-profile couples seeking amicable solutions to custody disputes.
