DeSoto Police Arrest Two After Early Morning Shootout

BREAKING: Two men have been arrested following a dramatic shootout in the parking lot of a DeSoto apartment complex early Friday morning. The incident unfolded at approximately 12:55 a.m. in the 1200 block of East Pleasant Run Road, according to the DeSoto Police Department.

Authorities confirmed that the department’s Shot Spotter detection system alerted officers to the gunfire, which was quickly followed by multiple 911 calls from residents reporting the chaos. Responding officers arrived on the scene within three minutes to find over 30 shell casings littered across the parking lot.

During a thorough search of the area, police located an adult male who reported he had been targeted in the shooting but fortunately escaped injury. The victim stated that he was sitting on the stairs outside his apartment when two men confronted him, leading to a heated argument.

As tensions escalated, both suspects drew firearms and opened fire, prompting the victim to return fire in self-defense, officials said. The suspects have been identified as Noah Douglas Moran and Jashaun Lamonte Wofford, both aged 20, and they were taken into custody at the scene.

Both men now face charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, classified as a second-degree felony under Texas law. Remarkably, no officers or innocent bystanders were injured during the exchange of gunfire, police reported.

After the arrests, detectives recovered multiple firearms from the suspects’ nearby apartment, further fueling the ongoing investigation. The DeSoto Police Department has stated that the inquiry is still active, and more details may emerge as the situation develops.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant as police continue their work in the area. This incident highlights the critical need for community safety and rapid police response in times of crisis.
