Ste. Genevieve Dragons Claim 8th Place at State Golf Tournament

URGENT UPDATE: The Ste. Genevieve Dragons have made history by finishing 8th at the MSHSAA Class 2 State Golf Tournament, marking their first appearance as a full team. Competing at the Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield, Missouri, the team improved their score by seven strokes in the second round, bringing their total to 877 (442 + 435).

The tournament took place on September 15, 2025, with Eldon clinching the state title with a remarkable score of 758 over 36 holes, while John Burroughs followed closely behind with 772. A dramatic tiebreaker determined that Strafford edged out California for third place, both having scored 788.

Individually, Eleanor McKlin led the Dragons with a commendable finish in 35th place, scoring 98 in the first round and 100 in the second. Gracie Ladd, a sophomore, made significant strides, improving by seven shots to finish with 205 overall, earning her 45th place.

Allison Loudenback faced challenges, matching her first round score of 109 after a front nine of 49 but slipping to 60 in the second half. The team was further bolstered by newcomer Briana Praff, who concluded the tournament with a score of 256.

The leaderboard was dominated by young talent, with Sara Kolar of Maplewood claiming the title with a commanding eight-shot victory, shooting 77 and 74. Haven Evers from Eldon secured second place, with rounds of 79 and 80.

This historic finish not only highlights the Dragons’ growth in the sport but also sets a new benchmark for future teams. The top 15 players in the tournament received all-state medal honors, showcasing the competitive spirit of Missouri high school golf.
