Foristell Commuters Face 60-Day Closure of North Service Road

URGENT UPDATE: Commuters in Foristell are facing significant disruptions as the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has just announced a 60-day closure of the North Service Road. This crucial closure begins at 9 p.m. on October 27, 2024, and will affect all traffic west of Route W at the I-70 and Route T/W interchange.

This closure is part of the ongoing I-70 improvement project, aimed at enhancing highway capacity and safety. MoDOT reports that to maintain access for residents and businesses west of the closure, a temporary exit from the westbound I-70 on-ramp will be provided for access to the North Service Road. However, this arrangement will not serve eastbound traffic, which will be redirected to the Elm Street interchange in Wright City (exit 200).

The North Service Road east of the Route T/W interchange will remain open, allowing two-way traffic, but commuters should prepare for delays and potential detours. This project is crucial as it seeks to accommodate a growing volume of traffic by adding a third lane to the interstate.

As part of the broader Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project, which was awarded in November 2024, these enhancements are designed to address increased traffic demands. Funding for these vital improvements comes from Missouri’s FY2024 budget, with an impressive $2.8 billion allocated from the General Revenue to support planning, design, and construction along the approximately 200-mile stretch of I-70 between Blue Springs and Wentzville.

Construction is expected to continue through 2028, making it imperative for commuters to stay informed about ongoing developments.

WHAT’S NEXT: Drivers are urged to plan alternate routes and monitor updates from MoDOT for any changes to the schedule due to weather conditions. Sharing this news is essential to keep fellow commuters informed about the impending disruptions. Stay tuned for further updates as the situation develops!
