URGENT UPDATE: Mercedes-AMG has just announced the unveiling of the Concept AMG GT Track Sport, a groundbreaking model that promises to redefine track performance and handling. This radical new variant is set to rival the Porsche 911 GT3 RS with its race-ready capabilities and street-legal status.
The prototype is currently undergoing intensive testing on various racetracks, showcasing extreme aerodynamic enhancements and a powerful V8 engine. It features an aggressive design reminiscent of a GT3 race car, complete with a towering rear wing and side-mounted exhausts, signaling a shift towards more extreme performance elements in the AMG lineup.
According to Michael Schiebe, Chairman of the Management Board of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, the Track Sport is “the youngest and most impressive offshoot of the GT family,” aimed at pushing the limits of driving dynamics. The concept is expected to offer more than the current AMG GT models, potentially exceeding the 603 hp of the AMG GT 63 S and the 805 hp from the E Performance hybrid variant.
The Track Sport’s design includes a wider stance and a longer dash-to-axle ratio, indicating significant structural changes from existing AMG GT models. Key exterior elements may be limited to shared headlights and mirrors, enhancing its unique racing identity.
This announcement is particularly timely as Mercedes-AMG gears up to reclaim its position in the high-performance segment. The company is also exploring a fully electric coupe, although its release remains contingent on market conditions.
As the automotive world watches closely, the Concept AMG GT Track Sport is poised to make a significant impact when it hits the market, with potential availability expected in early 2025. The anticipation builds, with car enthusiasts eager to see how this model will transform the landscape of performance vehicles.
