BREAKING NEWS: The community is mourning the loss of Betty Jean “Jeanne” Ruth, who passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, surrounded by family at Diamond Willow in Cloquet, MN. Jeanne was 73 years old and leaves behind a legacy of love and friendship.
Jeanne was born on March 23, 1952, in Alexandria, Minnesota, to Scyril and Betty Lou Sizer. She was the youngest of four in a vibrant family, moving frequently during her childhood but ultimately spending her formative years in ORR, MN. Jeanne graduated from Proctor High School in 1970 and maintained close ties with friends from both her hometown and Proctor through the years.
In 1974, Jeanne married her beloved husband, Norman “Norm” Ruth, and together they shared a fulfilling life until his untimely passing in 2010. They were devoted parents to their son, Ryan, and cherished every moment spent with their grandsons, Alex and Eli, who brought her immense joy.
Jeanne’s professional journey was marked by a series of impactful roles, beginning at Travelers Insurance. She later contributed to the Duluth Builders Exchange, Standard Brick, and served as the Executive Director of the Arrowhead Builders Association. Following a brief stint at Duluth Business University, she returned to the insurance industry, retiring from State Farm Insurance in 2016.
Known for her kindness and warmth, Jeanne was a friend to all. Her gentle demeanor and genuine interest in others made her a beloved figure in the community. She enjoyed the arts, especially the symphony and theater, and was remembered for her ability to make every moment special.
Jeanne is survived by her son, Ryan, daughter-in-law, Andrea, grandsons, Alex and Eli, siblings, and many close friends, including her mentee, John Hartwick. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and several family members.
The community will gather to honor Jeanne’s life on Saturday, November 8th, at Grace Lutheran Church. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM, followed by a service at 11:00 AM. After the service, attendees are invited to share stories and celebrate her memory over appetizers and treats.
