As high school football playoff season approaches, local teams in the Times-Herald coverage area are poised for action this Friday, November 10, 2023. With an impressive overall record of 34 wins and 16 losses, the squads from Vallejo, Bethel, St. Patrick-St. Vincent, Benicia, and American Canyon high schools are ready to compete. The excitement is palpable, but fans face a challenge: all four games take place simultaneously at 19:00 local time.

Local Playoff Matchups

Vallejo High School and St. Patrick-St. Vincent High School each earned the opportunity to host home games in Division 7. Vallejo, the No. 4 seed, will face Concord at Corbus Field. The Redhawks finished their season with a notable record of 7-3, winning three of their last four games and achieving a home record of 5-1.

St. Patrick-St. Vincent, the No. 7 seed, will host the No. 2 seed Piedmont at the same time. Although the Bruins have faced frustrations with playoff seeding rules in the past, they are looking to capitalize on their home advantage, having secured a 4-1 record at home this season. Piedmont enters the game with a 6-4 record and is on a winning streak of four games.

Benicia High School will also play at home, taking on Redwood in Division IV at 19:00. After a rocky start to the season, the Panthers have rebounded, winning six of their last seven games. The dynamic duo of Anthony Jordan and Thomas Jouvenot-Sells has fueled this resurgence, with both players scoring two touchdowns in their last matchup.

American Canyon seeks to defend their title as section champions in a more challenging Division II this year. The Wolves, seeded No. 6, will face California at home. With an impressive 9-1 record and an eight-game winning streak, American Canyon is eager to showcase their skills once again.
