Residents of Talo’fo’fo’ will have access to a variety of free health services on **November 21, 2023**. The Talo’fo’fo’ Village Outreach, organized by the **Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS)**, will take place from **10 a.m. to 1 p.m.** at the **Jeromy Newby Community Youth Center**. Services include free immunizations, physical examinations for adults and children, and educational resources aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles.
The immunization program targets children aged **2 months to 18 years** who are either enrolled in **Medicaid**, the **MIP**, or lack insurance. Vaccines available during the outreach include DTaP, IPV, Hep B, Hep A, Hib, Prevnar, MMR, Tdap, Td, MCV, HPV, and the annual flu shot, all offered while supplies last. Notably, tuberculosis (TB) skin tests will not be provided as part of this event.
In addition to immunizations, free physical exams will be available for all ages. Educational sessions will cover important health topics such as diabetes management, tobacco cessation, and hypertension awareness. Residents will also have the opportunity to receive program eligibility assessments for breast and cervical cancer screening programs, as well as the **Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program**.
Participants seeking information on vital statistics, including marriage, birth, and death certificates, can also receive assistance. Mental health and primary care services provided at local Community Health Centers will be highlighted, along with aging programs under the **Title III Home and Community Based Services** initiative. Doula services offered by the **Bureau of Women’s Affairs** will also be discussed.
To ensure a smooth experience for those seeking immunizations, parents and guardians should bring specific documents. Required items include the child’s birth certificate, current vaccination record, and a valid photo ID of the accompanying adult. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, with written authorization necessary if another adult is present.
This outreach is part of the DPHSS’s ongoing Village Outreach Initiative, a community-centered approach aimed at increasing accessibility to health and wellness services. By collaborating with local village mayors and partners, the DPHSS strives to meet residents where they are, facilitating access to care and promoting health awareness.
While this outreach event marks the last of the year, plans are already underway for future initiatives in **2026**. The next Village Outreach is expected to be announced in **February**, offering another round of free health and social services to the community.
For updates on upcoming outreach events and community health activities, residents can follow the DPHSS on **Instagram @dphssguam** and **Facebook @guamdphss**, or visit their website at **dphss.guam.gov**.
