Members of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity’s Kansas Epsilon chapter dedicated their weekend to a significant cleanup effort at Red Rocks, a historic landmark in Emporia, Kansas. This initiative, known as “Raking Red Rocks,” is part of the fraternity’s annual service commitment to the community. The event took place from November 21–23, 2023, focusing on preparing the site for the winter months.
Despite inclement weather that forced the cancellation of a planned session on Friday, the brothers proceeded with their work on Saturday morning, contributing their time from 09:00 to 11:30. A total of thirteen fraternity members, accompanied by two chapter sweethearts, participated in the cleanup, successfully completing approximately 70 percent of the planned tasks for the project.
Community Commitment and Volunteer Efforts
The cleanup effort is part of the fraternity’s broader mission to engage in community service throughout the year. The Kansas Epsilon chapter has a history of supporting local initiatives, and the Raking Red Rocks project exemplifies their dedication to preserving local heritage sites. After the fraternity brothers completed their portion of the work on Saturday, a separate group of volunteers stepped in on Sunday to finish the remaining tasks.
