UPDATE: Maureen Ann O’Malley, a cherished matriarch of Lowell, MA, has passed away at the age of 84. She died peacefully on November 22, 2025, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family.
Maureen’s death marks the end of a life filled with love, family, and community. Born on April 29, 1941, to Harold and Christine Heafy, she grew up in Lowell and graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Tyngsboro in the Class of 1959. Her commitment to family and community was evident throughout her life, especially during her 53-year marriage to her late husband, Robert “Bob” O’Malley, who passed away in April 2018.
For over 15 years, Maureen served as a dedicated secretary at Greater Lowell Vocational High School, where she made a lasting impact on both students and staff. However, her greatest joy came from being with her family. She is survived by her two children, Scott O’Malley of Lowell and Kellie Amari, along with her husband Peter Amari of Townsend. Maureen also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Kaitlyn O’Malley, Michael Amari, and Shawn Amari, as well as cherished great-grandchildren, Brody and Levi Palmer.
Maureen was known for her infectious enthusiasm during family gatherings, particularly on holidays like St. Patrick’s Day and the Fourth of July. Her warmth and passion for family made every occasion special, and she was never one to miss an opportunity to celebrate the moments that mattered most.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, December 1, 2025, at 11 AM, taking place at St. Rita’s Church, located at 58 Mammoth Rd, Lowell, MA 01854. Arrangements are being handled by Dolan Funeral Home, and the family invites friends and community members to join in honoring Maureen’s legacy.
