Kid Rock and Trump Rally Support for Van Epps in Tennessee Election

Kid Rock and Donald Trump have publicly endorsed Matt Van Epps for Congress in the upcoming special election in Tennessee. The election, set for December 2, 2023, follows the resignation of Republican Representative Mark Green, who left Congress on July 4 to rejoin the private sector. Van Epps aims to secure the GOP nomination in Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District.

In a video shared on Van Epps’ social media page, Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, expressed his support, stating, “We got somebody who’s served our country that’s willing to put America first against this left-wing lunatic nut job.” His comments underline the polarized nature of the current political landscape as candidates gear up for the election.

The Democratic contender, state Representative Aftyn Behn, is positioned closely behind Van Epps in the polls. An Emerson College/The Hill survey released earlier this week indicates that Van Epps holds approximately 48% of likely voter support, while Behn is at 46%. The poll also reveals that around 5% of voters remain undecided, highlighting a competitive race. The margin of error for the poll is 3.9 points, suggesting that the outcome could hinge on voter turnout.

Additionally, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and former Representative Green have also endorsed Van Epps, reinforcing his position within the Republican party. Van Epps has taken to social media to rally support, declaring, “No lunatics in our Tennessee politics,” and urging constituents to vote Republican on December 2nd.

Trump’s endorsement was first announced in October via his platform, Truth Social. He urged “all America First Patriots” in Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District to vote for Van Epps, emphasizing the importance of participating in the electoral process. “You can win this Election for Matt! PLEASE VOTE FOR MATT VAN EPPS, who has my Complete and Total Endorsement,” Trump wrote, adding that polls would close at 12 P.M. local time on Election Day.

As the election date approaches, the candidates are intensifying their campaigns. Early voting in Tennessee ends on November 26, providing a crucial window for both candidates to secure support. The outcome of this election is expected to have significant implications for the political landscape in Tennessee and beyond. Voter engagement will be key as both parties work to mobilize their bases in a race that remains tightly contested.
