BREAKING: The community of Ballston Spa is mourning the loss of Christine M. Fitzpatrick, the town’s first female mayor, who passed away on November 24, 2025. She was a beloved figure known for her unwavering commitment to public service and community advocacy.
Christine, 75, was a cherished wife to the late David L. Maynard, a loving sister, aunt, and friend. Her family announced her passing, stating that she leaves behind a legacy of leadership and love that will resonate for generations.
Born on April 21, 1950, in Manhattan, New York, Christine grew up in Queens, surrounded by a large family. She graduated from Saint Helena High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in history from St. John’s University. Her career spanned education and public service, culminating in her role as executive director of the New York State Adult Day Health Care Council.
Christine made history as Ballston Spa’s first female mayor, serving from 2000 to 2006. Under her leadership, the village went from a $300,000 deficit to a remarkable $4.8 million fund balance. She was instrumental in developing master plans that enhanced community services and accessibility.
Her passion for reading, tandem biking, and the arts enriched her life and the lives of those around her. Christine was known for her warm-hearted nature and ability to connect deeply with others, often expressing love through heartfelt cards.
Christine’s family invites the community to celebrate her life during calling hours on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Armer Funeral Home, 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 167 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Christine’s memory to the Friends of the Ballston Spa Public Library or Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, reflecting her love for education and community health.
