A century-old grocery store has entered a significant transformation phase following its acquisition by Aldi in 2024. Southeastern Grocers has officially rebranded itself as The Winn-Dixie Company, marking a new chapter in its long history. This strategic move, announced in October, comes after the company lost ten stores to Rouses Markets.

Anthony Hucker, Chairman and CEO of The Winn-Dixie Company, highlighted the importance of this rebranding effort. He stated, “This is a defining moment—more than a name change, it proudly declares who we are and where we’re headed.” Hucker emphasized that the rebrand is rooted in the company’s mission to empower communities and feed families, stating, “Becoming The Winn-Dixie Company brings a deeply rooted company name behind our shared purpose.”

Investments and Modernization Plans

The rebranding initiative includes significant investments aimed at both new store openings and the modernization of existing locations. The company has plans to open new stores in 2026, starting with a location in Alachua, Florida, which will take over an old Hitchcock’s store. Additionally, The Winn-Dixie Company recently reopened a remodeled store in St. Cloud, Minnesota, enhancing the shopping experience with a more contemporary design.

In line with its modernization efforts, the company is introducing various customer conveniences. These include partnerships for third-party online grocery delivery services and the implementation of return kiosks, which aim to streamline the shopping process for customers.

The new branding also features a refreshed logo and a tagline that embodies its mission: “Bring Home More Good.” The emphasis on quality extends to the company’s product offerings, including a new look for its signature Winn-Dixie Lip Lickin’ Chicken.
