Hyundai Motor Group has articulated its strategic vision for 2026, unveiling priorities that emphasize customer-focused transformation and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into its operations. During a presentation to global employees on January 4, 2026, Executive Chair Euisun Chung outlined key initiatives aimed at navigating a rapidly evolving market and setting new industry standards.
Strategic Priorities for Transformation
Chung identified five strategic priorities that will guide the Group’s approach: customer-focused evolution, agile decision-making, ecosystem competitiveness, bold collaboration, and leadership in new industry standards. He underscored the necessity for continuous adaptation to meet the challenges of a dynamic global landscape.
Opening his remarks, Chung expressed gratitude to employees and customers for their contributions during a challenging 2025. He noted that the upcoming year will present both challenges and opportunities. “When conditions get tough and competition fierce, our greatest strength will be our ability to continuously evolve by staying close to our customers,” he stated. To foster this evolution, Chung encouraged staff to reflect on their processes and ensure that customer perspectives are central to product development.
Enhancing Decision-Making and Collaboration
Chung stressed the importance of agile decision-making through direct engagement with employees. “Leaders must step out into the field, engage directly with people, and understand the essence of situations firsthand,” he said. He called for swift and clear communication within the organization, which he believes is essential for effective operations. “Let us work more efficiently,” he added, advocating for innovative approaches to problem-solving.
In discussing the competitive landscape, Chung highlighted the significance of a strong ecosystem. The Group’s diverse businesses, from vehicle manufacturing to humanoid robots, rely on thousands of components, necessitating exceptional performance across the supply chain. “The strength of our supply ecosystem directly amplifies our competitive advantage,” he remarked, emphasizing that sustainable growth requires a healthy ecosystem.
As the global manufacturing industry undergoes a significant shift due to advancements in AI technology, Chung called for bold collaboration with various partners. “We’ve entered an era where core product competitiveness is determined by AI capabilities,” he noted, illustrating the necessity for Hyundai to enhance its AI-driven transformation efforts.
He expressed confidence in the Group’s ability to compete at a high level, leveraging its expertise in product design and manufacturing, as well as valuable data from production sites and user experiences. “If we envision a bigger future and boldly expand collaboration with various partners, I am confident we will deliver greater value to customers,” Chung concluded.
