Jerry Lee Bailey, a cherished member of the Kitts Hill community, passed away on November 22, 2025, at the age of 67. Surrounded by family, he left this world peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and friendship. Born on October 16, 1958, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, he was the youngest of 16 children and was preceded in death by several siblings as well as his grandson, Brenden Lee Bailey, step-grandson, Nicholas Chaise Kuehne, and stepson, Adam Chaise Kuehne.
Family and Community Impact
Jerry is survived by his wife, Karen McDonie Bailey, whom he married on August 17, 2006. He also leaves behind his son, Jeremy (Julie) Bailey, and stepsons, Johnathon (Ellen) Kuehne from Ironton and Stephen (Elizabeth) Kuehne from Jeffersonville, Kentucky. His grandchildren, Lynzi Bailey, Brooklyn Bailey, Ivy Kuehne, and Samuel Kuehne, will carry on memories of their grandfather.
Jerry was well-known for his easygoing and friendly nature, which endeared him to many in the community. He was a proud graduate of Rock Hill High School, class of 1978, and enjoyed a successful career as an HVAC technician, retiring from Cambell Heating & Air in 2020 due to health issues. His passions included fishing and visiting flea markets, activities he cherished with family and friends.
Memorial Services and Tributes
A funeral service will take place at Storms Creek Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, with visitation scheduled from 10:00–11:00 a.m. for family members. Friends are encouraged to attend from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Pastors Stephen Kuehne and Jeremy Shamblin will officiate the ceremony. Burial will occur at Highland Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either Storms Creek Missionary Baptist Church or the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
