Jessica Simpson Embraces New Chapter After Eric Johnson Split
Jessica Simpson is navigating an unexpected phase of her life after separating from her husband, Eric Johnson. The singer and actress, now 45, recently shared her feelings about becoming a single mother of three, emphasizing that her life plan did not include this new reality. In an interview with People magazine, Simpson reflected on her journey, stating, “I feel like we get caught up in numbers… Absolutely not. That was not how I planned it. But it’s just a part of what destiny holds for me.”
The separation, announced in January 2024 after ten years of marriage, has prompted Simpson to focus on her personal growth. She revealed that she and Johnson have been living separately while prioritizing their children’s well-being. In her statement to People, she said, “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”
New Beginnings and Musical Comeback
In the wake of her separation, Simpson has released her first musical project in 15 years. She described this phase as an opportunity for self-discovery, stating, “This time in my life, I was meant to be independent in my self-discovery without anybody else’s critiques, judgments or opinions.” Simpson emphasized that her new music reflects her personal journey, allowing her to express vulnerability and honesty.
The couple’s journey began in May 2010 when they met through a mutual friend, leading to a swift engagement just six months later. They welcomed their first two children, Maxwell and Ace, before marrying in 2014. Their third child, Birdie, was born in 2019. Reports indicate that Johnson was seen without his wedding ring in November 2024, coinciding with Simpson’s return to music.
Life Apart
As Simpson works towards her musical comeback, she splits her time between Los Angeles and Nashville, while Johnson primarily resides in Los Angeles, where their children attend school. An insider noted, “Jess and Eric very much live separate lives.” Simpson’s social media posts hint at her new outlook, with one message stating, “This comeback is personal… It’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve.”
As she embarks on this new chapter, Simpson is embracing her independence while navigating the challenges of motherhood and personal growth. Her journey serves as a reminder that life can take unexpected turns, and finding strength in those moments can lead to new opportunities.
