Jim Carrey and Taylor Momsen Reunite at Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Jim Carrey and Taylor Momsen shared a memorable reunion on Saturday during the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, their first encounter in 25 years since filming the beloved holiday classic, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” The actors posed for photographs on the red carpet at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, creating a nostalgic moment for fans and attendees alike.

Momsen, now 32, donned a stylish black dress featuring lace accents and a daring leg slit, complemented by a black leather coat and calf-high boots. Carrey, at 63, opted for a casual yet chic look with a black graphic T-shirt, a black-and-white striped blazer, and black dress pants. “We haven’t seen each other since the Grinch. Twenty-five!” Momsen exclaimed to reporters, according to KNX News.

Tribute to Soundgarden

Both actors attended the ceremony to honor the induction of Soundgarden into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Carrey had the honor of delivering a tribute to the band, recalling his hosting of the 1996 episode of “Saturday Night Live” when Soundgarden performed as the musical guest. Momsen showcased her musical talents as she performed the iconic tracks “Rusty Cage” and “Black Hole Sun” alongside notable artists including Brandi Carlile, Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, and Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains.

Momsen’s connection to Soundgarden runs deep; her band, Pretty Reckless, opened for the band during their final tour before the tragic passing of lead singer Chris Cornell in 2017.

Nostalgia from “The Grinch”

Reflecting on her early career, Momsen portrayed Cindy Lou Who in the 2000 film when she was just seven years old. In a recent appearance on the November 5 episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, she recounted her experience working with Carrey, who brought the Grinch character to life. “Jim Carrey is the Grinch,” she noted. “I didn’t know who Jim was until the premiere, and someone had to point him out to me and go, ‘That’s Jim,’ and I went, ‘Oh, Jim.’”

Despite the Grinch’s intimidating appearance, Momsen found comfort in Carrey’s presence. “He was never scary to me. To me, he was always Jim, and he was always in makeup,” she remarked.

To celebrate the film’s legacy, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” will return to select theaters on December 12 for a limited engagement, coinciding with its 25th anniversary. It is also available for streaming on Peacock and Prime Video.

This reunion not only highlights the lasting impact of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” but also showcases the enduring friendships formed in Hollywood, reminding fans of the magic that cinema can create.
