Kelsey Grammer Hails Donald Trump as Possibly the Greatest President

Kelsey Grammer has openly praised former President Donald Trump, calling him “maybe the greatest” president in United States history. The actor, best known for his role as Dr. Frasier Crane on the iconic sitcoms “Cheers” and “Frasier,” made these remarks during an interview with Fox News Digital on December 6, 2025, just ahead of the Kennedy Center Honors dinner in Washington, D.C.

“I think he’s extraordinary,” Grammer stated. “He’s one of the greatest presidents we’ve ever had. Maybe the greatest. There are some things he still wants to get done, and I think that’s terrific, but there was a big hill to climb.” Grammer’s support for Trump aligns with his well-documented political views, as he has been an outspoken Republican for many years.

In earlier interviews, including one with The Times, Grammer expressed appreciation for having a president who he believes “actually means what they say.” He also commented on Trump’s focus on the “common man,” suggesting that this perspective reflects the ethos of the modern Republican Party.

In 2023, during a segment on BBC Radio 4’s “Today” show, Grammer reaffirmed his support for Trump, stating, “I am. And I’ll let that be the end of it.” This comment came amidst a controversy when representatives for Paramount+, the streaming service behind the revival of “Frasier,” reportedly curtailed the interview due to the political discussion. BBC host Justin Webb noted, “Kelsey Grammer himself was perfectly happy to go on talking about it,” highlighting the tension between the actor’s views and the network’s interests.

Grammer’s political leanings have not gone unnoticed in Hollywood, where he has previously remarked on the challenges of being an “openly Republican guy.” In a 2012 interview with ABC News, he speculated whether his lack of an Emmy nomination for his Starz series “Boss” was linked to his political affiliation, suggesting that being a Republican is perceived negatively in the entertainment industry. “The thing is, I have always been a rebel,” he explained. “If you ever tell me the way to think, I’m bound to think the other way.”

Several other celebrities, including actor Zachary Levi, have also publicly supported Trump. Levi, who endorsed the former president during the 2024 election, indicated that his political beliefs have led to some colleagues choosing not to work with him. “My team has let me know,” he shared, adding that while no specific names were provided, it is clear that some in the industry prefer to distance themselves.

Grammer is not alone in his support for Trump, as actor Jon Voight has described him as the “greatest president since Abraham Lincoln.” The political landscape in Hollywood continues to reflect a division where vocal support for Trump can impact professional relationships.

Recently, Grammer welcomed his eighth child, a son named Christopher, with wife Kayte Walsh. He remains active in his career and is set to reprise his role as Beast in the upcoming Marvel film “Avengers: Doomsday,” scheduled for release in December 2026. Grammer previously made a surprise cameo in the 2023 movie “The Marvels,” marking his return to the franchise.

As Grammer continues to navigate both his personal and professional life, his remarks about Trump contribute to the ongoing dialogue about politics in the entertainment industry and the cultural implications of celebrity endorsements.
