Meet 4-Year-Old Alanis: A Bright Star Seeking a Family

Alanis, a charming and affectionate four-year-old, is currently featured in the ongoing initiative, Wednesday’s Child, aimed at finding loving homes for children in foster care. Known for her fondness for music, particularly the popular children’s show Cocomelon, she radiates joy when surrounded by caregivers who provide comfort and support.

This delightful little girl thrives on connection. She finds immense joy in being held and cherishes the gentle whispers of her caregivers, which bring forth her infectious giggles. Alanis enjoys expressing herself, often making sounds and taking pleasure in her ability to convey happiness. Her comfort is most evident when her basic needs are met—after being fed, bathed, and having her diaper changed, she feels secure and content.

Supporting Alanis’ Development

Alanis is currently benefiting from early intervention services designed to foster her growth and development. These services include oral stimulation, engaging in mirror play, sensory activities with toys, and nurturing physical contact. This comprehensive approach is crucial in helping her develop essential skills and emotional well-being.

The initiative, Wednesday’s Child, is a collaboration led by the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE), the Department of Children & Families, and WBZ-TV/CBS Boston. Since its inception in 1981, the program has dedicated itself to raising awareness about the importance of adoption from foster care. Over the years, it has successfully helped hundreds of children find permanent homes.

For over three decades, the series has been hosted by Jack Williams, who has played an instrumental role in giving a voice to children who face prolonged waits for families. By highlighting the stories of children like Alanis, Wednesday’s Child continues to shine a light on the need for loving homes and the transformative power of adoption.
