United Airlines Elevates Filmmaking with Travel Solutions at Sundance

United Airlines is enhancing its connections within the filmmaking community by providing tailored travel solutions for industry professionals. The airline’s ongoing commitment to the entertainment sector is exemplified through its support of the Sundance Film Festival, which took place from January 23-26, 2024, in Park City, Utah. By facilitating travel logistics for filmmakers, talent, and executives, United aims to ensure smooth journeys that foster creativity and collaboration.

According to Andrea Robertson, Managing Director of United for Business Sales, the airline has established strong ties with the filmmaking community. “United has built strong relationships with the filmmaking community, and that can be attributed to our team and the premium customer experience we provide,” she stated. The airline offers 24/7 entertainment support and day-of travel benefits, which have made it a trusted partner for filmmakers.

During the Sundance Film Festival, United set up the United Airlines Lodge, a welcoming lounge located on Main Street. This space provided a retreat for festivalgoers, where they could recharge and network. The lodge attracted considerable attention, with guests lining up daily to enjoy complimentary refreshments and access to high-speed Wi-Fi. The event also featured exclusive panels with industry leaders and filmmakers, allowing emerging talents to engage in meaningful discussions about their craft.

One panel focused on the airline’s extensive fleet, which includes over 1,000 aircraft. This positions United as one of the largest “theaters in the sky,” enabling filmmakers to reach audiences globally. “To give you a sense of our scale: Last year, we flew 181 million people to over 370 destinations across the globe,” explained Nisha Thakkar, Senior Manager of United In-Flight Entertainment. “We want everyone to find something to watch on board, and we want to curate it in a way that promotes discoverability.”

United for Business provides a variety of services specifically designed for the entertainment industry, including flat fees on checked bags and equipment, VIP airport services, and 24/7 support from entertainment travel experts. Enhancements to the United mobile app, such as the Virtual Gate feature, help users streamline their travel with real-time boarding trackers and club location recommendations.

As the Sundance Film Festival transitions to Boulder, Colorado, United is prepared to welcome filmmakers and festival attendees to its growing hub in nearby Denver. “We are excited to be a part of the evolution and growth of the Sundance Film Festival,” Robertson remarked. The airline has invested significantly in Denver International Airport, redesigning every United Club to enhance the travel experience.

In addition to Denver, United continues to strengthen its presence in major entertainment hubs such as New York and Los Angeles. The airline offers a meet and assist program to provide travelers with a seamless journey from curbside to cabin, featuring personalized guidance through the airport.

As United celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, the airline’s mission remains focused on connecting people, including global storytellers. “The United for Business entertainment program allows customers to unlock value and balance competitive pricing, network strength, and premium experience,” Robertson noted. The program is designed to be accessible to anyone in the industry, reflecting United’s commitment to supporting the creative community.
