Dave Coulier, best known for his role in the television series Full House, has announced he is undergoing treatment for tongue cancer, just a year after successfully battling non-Hodgkin lymphoma. In an interview with the TODAY Show on December 2, 2025, Coulier shared the shock of receiving this new diagnosis, which has added another layer to his health journey.
Coulier reflected on the challenges he faced over the past year during his chemotherapy for lymphoma, stating, “A year has flown by like that. It’s been a roller coaster.” He had previously declared himself cancer-free in April 2025, following successful treatment. However, a recent follow-up scan indicated a new, unrelated cancer on his tongue, prompting further medical investigation.
During his conversation with co-anchor Craig Melvin, Coulier recounted the moment he learned about the growth at the base of his tongue. He described experiencing significant pain, likening it to the sensation of biting his tongue, but with persistent discomfort. “It was very painful. It’s like if you bit your tongue, but the pain just lasted every single day,” he explained.
Initial biopsy results showed no signs of cancer, but subsequent scans revealed that the growth was expanding rapidly. Following another biopsy, he was diagnosed with early-stage, P16-positive oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma. “They said it’s totally unrelated to my non-Hodgkin lymphoma. This is a new cancer,” Coulier recalled, expressing his disbelief at the news.
Despite the daunting diagnosis, there is a sense of hope. Coulier reported that the cancer was detected early enough to be highly treatable, with a 90% curability rate. “The doctor said the prognosis is good, but we’re going to start radiation immediately,” he noted.
He is scheduled to undergo a total of 35 radiation treatments from Monday through Friday for the remainder of the year. Coulier’s journey reflects resilience in the face of adversity, as he navigates both the psychological and physical challenges of cancer treatment.
As he embarks on this new chapter in his health journey, Coulier continues to emphasize the importance of early detection and remaining optimistic. His story serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of health and the strength required to face life’s challenges.
