Dolly Parton Shares Health Update Amid Grief for Late Husband

Dolly Parton recently provided fans with an update on her health, revealing she has been feeling “worn down” since the passing of her husband, Carl Dean, on March 3, 2025. The renowned country singer addressed her well-being during a video shared on Dollywood’s opening day, March 13, 2025. She acknowledged that the emotional toll of grief, combined with some health concerns, has impacted her energy levels.

Parton candidly discussed her struggles, stating, “I’ve had a few little health issues, and we’re taking good care of them.” Last September, she had kidney stones that required attention, which she noted had added to her overall fatigue. Alongside this, she expressed that the process of grieving for Carl has left her feeling depleted. “I just kind of got worn down and worn out, grieving over Carl and a lot of other little things going on,” she explained.

In a light-hearted moment, Parton reassured fans that she is not seeking new romantic relationships following her husband’s death. She playfully remarked that Dollywood Company President Eugene Naughton should not be mistaken for a new partner. “I think Carl Dean’s waiting for me,” she said, emphasizing her commitment to her late husband. “If I should show up at the pearly gates with somebody else, he would not like that,” she added with a smile.

Reflecting on her health, Parton wanted to dispel any misconceptions about her condition. “I know lately, everyone thinks I’m sicker than I am. Do I look sick to you? I’m working hard here,” she joked while filming for the Grand Ole Opry in Tennessee on October 8, 2024. During that video, she confirmed that while she has faced challenges, she is managing them and remains committed to her work and her fans. “I want you to know I’m okay. I’ve got some problems as I mentioned, back when my husband Carl was very sick…when he passed, I let a lot of things go that I should have been taking care of,” she said.

Fans have expressed their support for Parton during this difficult time, and she has reassured them with her enduring spirit. “I ain’t dead yet!” she affirmed, reminding everyone of her resilience and dedication to her craft. As she continues to heal both emotionally and physically, Parton remains a beloved figure in the music world, captivating audiences with her authenticity and strength.
