Northern Kentucky Hosts Hazardous Waste Collection Event in April

Residents of Boone, Kenton, and Campbell Counties will have the opportunity to safely dispose of hazardous household waste at a pop-up collection event on April 11, 2024. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at Frederick’s Landing Park in Wilder, providing a convenient option for those looking to clear out unwanted items safely.

Accepted items for disposal include a variety of hazardous materials that can pose risks to health and the environment. Residents may bring up to two televisions, along with electronics, aerosol cans, household cleaners, pesticides, and poisons. Additional items that can be disposed of include corrosives, flammables, fuels, cylinders, tanks, smoke detectors, and light bulbs.

While the event aims to promote safe disposal, certain items will not be accepted. Participants should refrain from bringing paint, appliances, fertilizers, medications, tires, ammunition, explosives, radioactive materials, trash or debris, as well as furniture and mattresses.

Local officials encourage community members to take advantage of this event to properly dispose of hazardous waste, which often requires special handling. By participating, residents not only clear unwanted items from their homes but also contribute to a safer environment.
