A new tea parlor, named The Tea Room, is set to open soon in Catonsville, Maryland. The establishment is the brainchild of Laura Hodges, a Washington- and Maryland-based interior designer. In a post on Instagram from late October 2023, Hodges announced the upcoming launch at an undisclosed location on Frederick Road, adjacent to her design studio, Domain, located at 710 Frederick Road.
Hodges expressed her vision for The Tea Room, stating, “I love the warm, cozy feel of a boutique cafe, so we thought, why not create The Tea Room as an extension of our studio?” Her aim is to foster a space where patrons can enjoy a selection of loose leaf teas in an inviting atmosphere that feels like home. The design of The Tea Room will showcase Hodges’ signature aesthetic, featuring vintage details, marble accents, and ample open space.
In her Instagram announcement, Hodges highlighted the synergy between The Tea Room and Domain, referring to them as “complementary business areas.” She emphasized her desire to assemble a team that can blend the charm of a tea café with the sophistication typically associated with curated home décor retail.
Although Hodges did not respond to requests for additional comments, the opening of The Tea Room represents a significant expansion of her brand. It aims to provide a unique experience for tea enthusiasts and design aficionados alike.
