Local Communities Celebrate the Holidays with Festive Events

Communities across the region are embracing the holiday spirit with a series of festive events in early December. From traditional church sales to family-friendly crafts and historical presentations, there are numerous opportunities for residents to participate in seasonal celebrations.

Christmas Roll Sale at St. Michael Church

The St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church, located at the intersection of Oak and Second streets, is currently accepting orders for its annual Christmas roll sale. This year, orders will be taken until December 10, 2025. A wide variety of rolls are available, with delivery scheduled between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on December 20 and from noon to 1 p.m. on December 21. Craft Program at Orwigsburg Library

On December 11, 2025, the Orwigsburg Area Free Public Library will host a children’s story and craft session focusing on “Danish Christmas Hearts.” This event is set to begin at 4 p.m. and aims to engage young participants in festive creativity. Memorial Day Fire History Presentation

The Schuylkill County Historical Society will mark the 80th anniversary of the Memorial Day Fire in Mahanoy City with a special program on December 17, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.. Festive Concert to Support Local Band

The Shenandoah Valley High School will host “A Swingin’ Christmas VII” on December 13, 2025, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.. This concert aims to benefit the school’s band program and will feature the M&J Big Band from Pottsville. The event promises a full evening of festive swing and traditional holiday favorites.
