Jane Ronsheim Ring, an esteemed educator and devoted family member, passed away unexpectedly on December 24, 2025, at the age of 81 in Evanston, Illinois. Her death marks the end of a life rich in passion for the French language and a deep commitment to her family and community.
A Legacy of Learning and Love
Born on October 30, 1944, to the late Julian and Sally Ronsheim, Jane’s journey in education began with her academic achievements. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University and a Master of Arts from Columbia University, both in French. Her love for the language translated into a teaching career at Evanston Township High School, where she inspired countless students in the computer lab.
Jane’s passion for French culture extended beyond the classroom. Alongside her husband, Eugene Ring, she cherished annual summer trips to Southern France. These excursions allowed them to immerse themselves in the local cuisine, explore vibrant towns, and revisit friends made over the years. Such experiences brought her immense joy and enriched her life.
Family and Community Connections
Jane is survived by her husband of 58 years, Eugene, and their two children, Marcy Ring Fein (Todd) of Chicago, Illinois, and Dan Ring (Sara) of Los Angeles. She was a proud grandmother to Riley, Skylar, and Dylan Fein, as well as Charles Ring. Her family was her cornerstone, and she devoted herself to nurturing their bonds.
In addition to her immediate family, Jane is survived by her sister, Dr. Nancy Ronsheim of Annapolis, Maryland, and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Kolasky (David) of Portland, Oregon. She also leaves behind a legacy of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will always remember her warmth and kindness. Jane was predeceased by her sister, Carol Martin (Bruce) of Cos Cob, Connecticut.
A memorial service will be held on February 2, 2026, at 13:00 at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home, located at 111 Skokie Boulevard in Wilmette. Following the service, Jane will be interred at Memorial Park in Skokie, and a shiva will take place at 835 Judson Avenue in Evanston.
