Richard “Dick” Burch, a respected figure and beloved family member, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on September 15, 2025, in Santa Ana, California. His life was marked by service, dedication, and a profound love for family and community.
Born in 1934 to Jack and Helen Burch, Dick’s formative years included attending Black Foxe Military Academy before furthering his education at the University of Southern California (USC). His commitment to service was evident during the Korean War, where he honorably served in the Army Corps of Engineers.
Following his military service, Dick embarked on a successful career in sales, spending over 30 years with Kaiser Cement and National Cement. His work ethic and integrity earned him respect among peers and clients alike.
Family was at the heart of Dick’s life. He shared an enduring marriage with his wife, Barbara Burch, lasting 67 years. Together, they raised three children: Doug, Mike, and Susan. Dick found immense joy in spending time with his seven grandchildren, often emphasizing the importance of family gatherings and shared experiences.
In addition to his family commitments, Dick had a rich array of interests. He was an avid supporter of USC football, enjoyed working on leaded glass projects, and cherished moments spent boating on Lake Tahoe. His enthusiasm for life was evident in his daily greeting, “It’s another beautiful day in Orange County,” which reflected his optimistic outlook.
Known for his warm demeanor, Dick will be remembered not only for his gentle nature but also for his strong handshake and welcoming smile. His legacy of love, integrity, and community involvement will continue to resonate with those who knew him.
Dick Burch is survived by his wife, Barbara, their three children, and seven grandchildren. His passing marks the end of a life well-lived, characterized by service, love, and a deep commitment to family and community.
