Tifton’s Keep ’em Warm Coat Drive Launches 17th Annual Campaign

The annual Keep ’em Warm Coat Drive is returning to Tifton for its 17th year, aiming to provide warmth to the community as winter approaches. The campaign begins on November 1, 2025, and will continue until December 19, 2025. Local residents are encouraged to donate warm clothing, including coats, scarves, jackets, and other essentials.

Organizer and county commissioner Melissa Hughes emphasized the need for clothing of all sizes, with a particular focus on children’s garments to ensure that younger residents are adequately prepared for the colder months ahead. Hughes expressed her appreciation for the community’s support, stating that the initiative has already received contributions prior to its official launch.

Among the early donors are members of the Greater Deliverance New Baptist Church of Atlanta, led by a former Tifton resident. They have generously provided over 30 coats to the drive in advance. Additionally, local organizations have also contributed, with Friends of Tifton United donating coats before the drive’s start, and Kelly’s Cleaners, a long-time supporter of the initiative, offering to clean the donated items at no charge before they are distributed.

Hughes conveyed her gratitude towards the Tifton community, feeling fortunate to have such strong local backing. She expressed her commitment to giving back to a community that she considers wonderful.

Residents interested in participating can drop off their donations at the Charles Kent Administration Building or at either location of Kelly’s Cleaners. For further inquiries or to offer assistance, individuals can reach out to Melissa Hughes at (229) 326-0241.

As the winter season approaches, the Keep ’em Warm Coat Drive aims to ensure that no member of the Tifton community is left in the cold.
