U.S. Marine Corps Veteran Gilbert John Acosta Passes Away at 62

Gilbert John Acosta, a distinguished U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a respected member of his community, passed away on September 10, 2025, at the age of 62. Acosta, who graduated from Johnson High School in 1981, later earned his degree from the University of Minnesota Morris, contributing both academically and socially throughout his life.

Acosta’s contributions to his country and community are deeply valued, and his loss has resonated with many who knew him. He is remembered not only for his military service but also for his dedication to education and community engagement.

Visitation services will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church in Little Canada on October 28, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM. This will be followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM, allowing friends and family to pay their respects and celebrate his life.

Following the mass, interment with full military honors will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 1:45 PM in Assembly Area #2. This ceremony will honor Acosta’s service in the Marine Corps, reflecting the respect and gratitude of a nation for his sacrifices.
