Immaculata High School, ranked No. 16 in the NJ.com Top 20, claimed victory at the Holmdel Tournament, finishing with an impressive total of 209.5 points. The team demonstrated exceptional talent by securing five individual titles, significantly contributing to their overall success.
Two standout performances highlighted the competition. Forest Rose dominated the 106-pound category, achieving a pin in the finals, while Trevin Highton showcased his skills at 165 pounds, also winning by pin. Their victories were pivotal in establishing Immaculata’s dominance throughout the tournament.
Holmdel secured second place with a score of 198 points. The team was bolstered by Sayan Rao, who won a closely contested final at 113 pounds with a 7-4 decision over Lucas Loffredo. Additionally, Dylan Placca captured a title at 138 pounds, defeating Derek Sutphen of Immaculata with a score of 4-0.
Despite not winning any individual titles, Toms River North finished third with 156 points. John Yannariello and James Mauti both reached the finals, showcasing the depth of talent within the team. Raritan rounded out the top four, accumulating 155 points, with Owen Brackett winning at 132 pounds by major decision.
Other notable performances came from teams such as Sayreville, Scotch Plains-Fanwood, Barnegat, and Hamilton West, each contributing to a competitive atmosphere at the tournament.
