Indoor Triathlon Kicks Off at UREC on February 9, 2026

The University Recreation (UREC) department is set to launch its annual Indoor Triathlon on February 9, 2026, with activities continuing through to February 20, 2026. Participants, primarily students, will have the opportunity to track their progress as they aim to complete a sprint distance triathlon over the course of ten days.

The event will kick off with an opening ceremony on the first day, where the doors to the Klotsche Center Arena will open at 19:00. A community run/walk is scheduled to start at 19:30, encouraging students to engage in physical activities alongside their peers. This initial gathering will serve as an excellent opportunity for participants to begin their run distances, set personal fitness goals, and connect with the SHAW (Student Health and Wellness) team.

Throughout the two-week event, students will not only focus on completing the triathlon but also strive for personal bests in a supportive environment. Unlike many competitive events, the awards for the UREC Indoor Triathlon will be based on completion rather than speed. Participants who finish will receive exclusive 2026 UREC Indoor Triathlon T-shirts, along with other rewards, reinforcing the event’s emphasis on participation and personal achievement.

The UREC Indoor Triathlon is designed to foster a sense of community and encourage physical fitness among students. By creating an inclusive atmosphere, UREC aims to motivate participants to push their limits while enjoying a fun and engaging experience. For further details about the triathlon and registration, students are encouraged to visit UREC’s dedicated Indoor Triathlon webpage.

This event not only offers a platform for students to challenge themselves physically but also serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle and the benefits of community support in achieving personal goals.
