Jason Crowe Jr. Sets California Scoring Record with 51 Points

In a remarkable display of skill and determination, Jason Crowe Jr. of the Inglewood Sentinels made history on December 9, 2025, by becoming California’s all-time leading scorer in high school basketball. Crowe achieved this milestone by scoring an impressive 51 points in a game against the Beverly Hills Normans during the Ocean League opener held at Inglewood High.

Entering the game, Crowe needed 29 points to surpass the previous record of 3,659 points, held by Tounde Yessoufou from St. Joseph of Santa Maria. He wasted no time, hitting a three-pointer shortly after the second half began, which allowed him to eclipse the record with 7:51 left in the third quarter. “When he broke the record, I told him I was going to break it the next year,” Crowe Jr. said, reflecting on the moment with humor.

From the beginning, Crowe faced intense defensive pressure, frequently double and triple-teamed. Despite this, he managed to score 11 points in the first quarter and 13 in the second, finishing the first half just five points short of the record. After converting free throws early in the third quarter, he quickly followed up with the record-breaking shot. Crowe’s final tally of 51 points contributed to a decisive 112-75 victory for Inglewood.

Crowe’s achievements this season have been nothing short of extraordinary. He commenced the season with 3,331 points and quickly became the leading scorer in the Southern Section, overtaking Jarod Lucas from Los Altos in his first game. So far, Crowe has scored over 40 points in seven of the eight games played, including three games where he surpassed the 50-point mark.

With the record now under his belt, Crowe stands at a total of 3,682 points with two months remaining in the season. His next target is to reach the coveted 4,000-point milestone, a feat that has never been achieved by any player in California history. According to Cal-Hi Sports, only 14 players in the state’s history have reached at least 3,000 points.

Crowe’s dedication to basketball has been evident from a young age. Longtime basketball observer and coach DeAnthony Langston recalls seeing Crowe as a child, engrossed in footage of legendary players like Pistol Pete Maravich and Jerry West. “That’s when I knew right there, he was a savant,” Langston noted. Crowe’s father, Jason Crowe Sr., who once played professionally and nearly made it to the NBA, has been a significant influence on his son’s career. His father’s guidance and Crowe Jr.’s commitment to improvement have fueled his aspirations to excel at the collegiate level and beyond.

Even after achieving this landmark, Crowe remains focused on his goals. Following the record-breaking game, he expressed his determination to continue working hard. “I don’t have time to take a break from basketball,” he said. “If I want to accomplish my dream and make it attainable, I’ve got to keep working every day.”

As Crowe continues to pursue excellence on the court, the basketball community eagerly anticipates what more this talented young athlete will achieve in the coming months. With his relentless work ethic and a clear vision for his future, Crowe Jr. is poised to leave a lasting legacy in California high school basketball.
