Kira Trader Named Player of the Year in All-Tidewater Field Hockey Team

The 2025 All-Tidewater field hockey team has been announced, recognizing standout athletes from various high schools in Virginia. Leading the pack is Kira Trader, a senior midfielder from Tabb High School, who has been named Player of the Year after an impressive season. Trader finished with a remarkable tally of 42 goals and 56 assists, contributing significantly to her team’s success in capturing their fifth consecutive Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 3 state championship.

Trader’s career statistics are equally impressive, as she concludes her time at Tabb with 118 goals and 148 assists, maintaining a flawless record of 89-0 over her high school years and securing four state titles. Her extraordinary performance set a new VHSL single-season record for assists, and her accolades include being a four-time first-team all-state selection and a two-time state player of the year. Additionally, she has earned recognition as a first-team selection by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) and has been named to the All-South region team multiple times. Trader is also on the roster for the USA Field Hockey U16 and U18 Junior Women’s National Team Selection Camps and has committed to play at Penn State.

First Team Selections Highlight Talented Athletes

The All-Tidewater first team features a talented roster, including several players who made significant impacts in their respective teams. Atalee Booth, a senior forward from Cox High School, scored 15 goals and provided 6 assists, playing a crucial role in leading the Falcons to the Class 5 state championship. Booth was recognized as a first-team Class 5 all-state selection.

Another standout, Bella Glenn, a sophomore midfielder from Cox, recorded 27 goals and 23 assists, contributing to the Falcons’ success as they secured their 25th VHSL state title. Glenn is also a two-time first team Class 5 all-state selection and an NFHCA All-South Region team member.

The roster also includes Charlotte Houtz from Gloucester High School, who notched 20 goals and 50 assists for the Class 4 state champion Dukes, earning the title of Class 4 and Region A player of the year. Mia Jones from Norfolk Academy contributed 17 goals and 21 assists for her team, which reached the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA) state semifinals. She has been recognized as a two-time VISAA Division I first-team selection.

The defensive line also boasts impressive talent. Isadora Kitzmiller, a senior defender from First Colonial, made significant contributions with 15 goals and 11 assists, helping her team finish as the Class 5 runner-up. Kitzmiller has been named an All-State first-team pick and an NFHCA All-South Region team selection.

Additional Notable Players and Achievements

The All-Tidewater team also includes Caydence Parker from Nansemond River, who recorded 15 goals and 7 assists, along with three defensive saves, earning her the Class 5 and Region B player of the year title. Addie Savoie, a sophomore goalkeeper from First Colonial, stood out with 178 saves and a 90% save percentage, contributing to her team’s success in reaching the Class 5 title game for the third consecutive year.

Other notable first-team selections include Peyton Sutton from Gloucester, who scored 21 goals and provided 21 assists, and Kaila Trader, Kira Trader’s sister, who tallied 38 goals and 29 assists. Both have left their mark on their respective teams and have been recognized for their talents.

The second team features players such as Lexi Curtis from Great Bridge, Casey Law from Poquoson, and Cosette Lee from Cox, among others, showcasing a wealth of talent across the region.

The All-Tidewater selections highlight the incredible skill and dedication displayed by these athletes throughout the season, setting a high standard for field hockey in Virginia.
