Tigers Secure Second Place in Home Opener Swimming Quad

The Carroll Tigers swimming team achieved a commendable second-place finish during their home opener quad meet held on March 16, 2024. The team accumulated a total of 290 points, successfully outpacing Bishop Garrigan, which finished with 68 points, and Fort Dodge, which garnered 123 points. Spencer took the top position with 337 points.

Highlighting the Tigers’ performance were swimmers Teagan Renze and Leagan Sease, who each secured two first-place finishes. Sease excelled in the 100-yard Butterfly, clocking in at 59.91 seconds. He also triumphed in the 200-yard Individual Medley with a time of 1:58.47, finishing ahead of Fort Dodge’s Aiden Seagren, who completed the event in 2:23.30. Carroll’s Brody Skarin claimed third place in the same race, finishing at 2:33.13.

Renze showcased his skills in the 100-yard backstroke, winning with a time of 53.05 seconds, and he also secured victory in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.62. The Tigers demonstrated their relay prowess, winning the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:33.06, comfortably ahead of Spencer, which finished at 1:37.13.

In addition to their relay success, the Tigers finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay and the 200-yard medley relay. Individual performances continued to stand out, with Landen Cadwell and Ryder Cue finishing second and third, respectively, in the 500-yard freestyle. Cadwell also excelled in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:06.79 for a second-place finish.

Looking ahead, the Tigers will compete at the 64th Annual Boone Swimming Invitational at Boone High School on Saturday, March 23, 2024. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., presenting another opportunity for the team to showcase their talents against a larger field.
